Pennsylvania’s The Station Inn, the popular railfan bed and breakfast along Norfolk Southern’s Pittsburgh Line, will mark 30 years in 2023 and celebrate with new renovations and a community party in July. 

The Station Inn in Cresson was founded in 1993 by Tom Davis, who purchased the former railroad hotel and converted it into a bed and breakfast for rail enthusiasts. Besides offering visiting enthusiasts a place to recharge after a long day trackside, it’s possible to watch trains right from the front porch. The Lang family purchased the Inn in 2022.

“We are excited to celebrate 30 years of memories with our customers and the community,” said Leah Lang, co-owner. “The Station Inn has always been special to us and we are honored to carry it forward.”

Among the improvements the family has made in recent months is the renovation of the meeting and event space in the basement, which features seating for up to 25 people. The room is next to the 1904 bar, which is being considered as a future coffee shop or cocktail bar. 

The July 15 anniversary event will feature food, live music and activities for all, including tours of the inn with a focus on its history. The event will be held on Front Street in front of the inn from noon to 7:30 p.m. 

The inn is also holding monthly photo contests on its Facebook and Instagram pages where winners can receive a $30 gift certificate for a future stay at the inn. The Station Inn is also launching a new artist-in-residence program, where creatives will be able to display their work. Serving as curator and the first artist-in-residence is Michael Froio.
