CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Union Pacific released the schedule for “Big Boy” 4014’s upcoming trip to Denver, which is expected to be one of the locomotive’s only outings this year. The locomotive will depart its home base of Cheyenne, Wyo., on July 28 and head south to Denver. Two days later, on July 30, it will lead a public excursion from Denver to Cheyenne.

UP had initially planned to send the locomotive on a month-long western tour, including its first trip to the Pacific Northwest. But that was later scrubbed due to the railroad’s ongoing service issues. Instead, the locomotive will make a short trip to Denver.

The trip is expected to depart Cheynne at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 28. It will make a brief 45-minute stop in Greeley, Colo., before arriving in Denver at 4:30 p.m. On Friday, July 29, the locomotive will be on display at Denver Union Station from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Then, on Saturday, July 30, the locomotive will lead the 2022 Union Pacific Museum Special out of Denver at 7:10 a.m., making a stop in Greeley at 9:30 a.m. and arriving in Cheyenne at 11:45 a.m. Additional information can be found online
