CLEWISTON, Fla. — The Sugar Express, aka: U.S. Sugar’s recently restored 4-6-2 148, will lead a series of excursions on April 9 and 10. The locomotive was restored to service in 2020 and led its first public excursions last year.

Three trips will be run on each day and will depart at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. The trips will take riders between Clewiston and Moore Haven and will last about two hours. Tickets are $48 per person and go on sale on March 16.

The train consist will include one dining car, one open-air car, and a limited number of lounge seating options. Seats are not assigned and available on a first-come, first-serve basis during boarding.

“We’re looking forward to seeing more of our friends from the region experience these historic train rides. Locomotive 148 has already proven it will draw visitors in from around the country, and we want our neighbors to get an opportunity to enjoy what’s coming from the Sugar Express,” said Scott Ogle, Operations Manager for Sugar Express.
