CORINTH, N.Y. — A former Delaware & Hudson branch line in New York State will see excursions trains for the first time since 2018. The Saratoga, Corinth & Hudson Railway is expected to begin operations this spring on the former D&H Adirondack Branch between Cornith and Greenfield, N.Y.

The new tourist operator is being spearheaded by Raven Rail LLC, a New York-based rail consultant and contractor. Trains will be led by Raven Rail’s former American Locomotive Co. S-1 plant switcher 5.

This section of track, which is owned by local communities, has not seen regular train service since the Saratoga & North Creek — part of the embattled Iowa Pacific empire — ceased service in 2018.

The new service comes as the north end of the former S&NC is up for sale, specifically the 27.9-mile section of track between North Creek and Tahawus, N.Y. According to local media, at least four bids have been received. All bids must be received by February 23 and the auction will be held on March 3.
