ORBISONIA, Pa. — For the first time since the 1980s, the East Board Top is hosting a “winter spectacular” on Feb 20, and tickets are selling fast.

Starting in 1966, the EBT hosted a winter railfan weekend with special excursions, photo freights and plenty of steam. The event was later rescheduled to the fall. While this year’s revival will not include any steam — two of the railroad’s 2-8-2s are presently being rebuilt — it will feature gasoline-electric motorcar M-1 along with a caboose. The “caboose hops” will depart hourly and take passengers to McMullen’s Summit. Seats can be reserved on the caboose or the motorcar. Passengers will disembark at the Rockhill Trolley Museum, which will be operating special excursions (tickets can be purchased via rockhilltrolley.org.

The final departure of the day at 3 p.m. will be a special photo charter organized by Pete Lerro Photography. The train will make various stops along the way for images over the course of five hours. Tickets for the regular rides are $20 per adult and $18 per child. The photo session is $250. Due to COVID-19, capacity will be limited on each run (and only 12 people will be able to participate in the photo run).

As of Friday afternoon, most tickets had been sold.
