COLLEGEDALE, Tenn. — A Norfolk Southern train derailed Tuesday after hitting a truck carrying what appeared to be a bridge beam over a crossing. The incident happened in Collegedale, not far from Chattanooga.
Local media reports that at least two people were taken to area hospitals, but their condition was unknown.
A dramatic video captured by someone nearby showed the train hitting the bridge beam and then derailing. The Chattanooga Fire Department, which was assisting with the response, posted images online showing multiple locomotives and cars off the rails.
