Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range 2-8-0 332 made a return to revenue service this past weekend on the North Shore Scenic Railroad in Minnesota. The locomotive led a sold-out Christmas Tree Train from Duluth to Knife River on November 25.

Locomotive 332 was built for the Duluth, Missabe, and Northern Railway in 1906 by the American Locomotive Company. It eventually joined the DM&IR fleet. In 1955, it was sold to the Duluth & Northeastern where it ran until being retired in the 1960s. It later ended up in the collection of the Lake Superior Railroad Museum.

The locomotive was restored to operation in 2017. It ran in excursion service for a few years before some mechanical issues briefly sidelined the steam locomotive. But earlier this year, it made a successful test run to Lakeside and back. Officials with the North Shore Scenic decided to run it on an excursion one more time before winter so the public had a chance to enjoy it. The locomotive will likely make more regular runs next year.
