KANSAS CITY — The first of 10 specially-painted locomotives to celebrate BNSF Railway’s 25th-anniversary were reveiled on Thursday. The locomotives feature the logos of BNSF’s predecessors: Burlington Northern; Santa Fe; Great Northern; Northern Pacific; Spokane, Portland & Seattle; Colorado & Southern; and Frisco.

The General Electric ES44AC locomotives are being painted by contractors in Kansas City and Iowa. Additional GEVOs are expected to be painted in the coming days and weeks for use across the entire BNSF system.

BNSF was created by the merger of BN and AT&SF in September 1995.
