Adrian & Blissfield Unveils New Paint Scheme

By Railfan & Railroad Staff

WESTLAND, Mich. — The Adrian & Blissfield Railroad has unveiled a new paint scheme. SD40-2 821, formally a Southern Pacific SD45, has been painted in a bright red and white paint scheme and given a new number to mark the time (August 2021) that new owners took over the Michigan short line.

The ADBF operates on 20 miles of track in Lenawee County, Mich., and in the past has used four-axle EMDs in a New York Central-like scheme. Last summer, the railroad was sold to Transportation Holdings, LLC

Although the locomotive has been rebuilt as an SD40-2, it retains its SD45 carbody.
