More than 3,000 Canadian National conductors, trainpersons, and yard workers are now on strike, according to labor union Teamsters Canada. The union previously issued a 72-hour strike notice over the weekend once contract talks had reached a stalemate. Workers voted to approve a strike back in September after negotiations broke down after their previous contract expired on July 23.
The union says the main issues surround drug benefits, time off, and remote-control train operations. The strike does not affect CN operations in the United States.
This is a developing story.
