By Railfan & Railroad Staff

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The general manager of passenger operations for the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum died in an accident at the railroad’s shop in Tennessee this week.

George Walker had worked for the railroad for more than 30 years. The railroad announced the incident on Facebook on Wednesday afternoon: “The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum family is heartbroken by the passing of long-time employee George Walker. He was involved in a tragic accident at the shop. At this time no other details are available. Please keep Mary, Andrew, Aaron and Charlie in your prayers as they deal with this tragic loss.”

It’s unknown what exactly happened, according to News Channel 9, but the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration as well as the Chattanooga Police are investigating. Law enforcement did tell the news station that Walker had been involved in a fall at the museum.
