The Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society is once again expanding the offerings of its increasingly popular Indiana Rail Experience with the addition of fall foliage excursions this October. The weekend excursions in Indiana and Michigan will feature Nickel Plate Road 2-8-4 765.
Since its founding in 2022, the Indiana Rail Experience has welcomed more than 7,500 passengers from 32 states and two countries. It was even named the “Best New Experience” by the Indiana State Tourism Association.
The first weekend of trips on October 7 and 8, will depart Pleasant Lake, Ind., for Hillsdale, Mich. On the second weekend, October 14 and 15, excursions will depart Hillsdale and Angola, Indiana. It will be the first time any of the Indiana Rail Experience excursions have departed from Hillsdale. Tickets are on sale now.
“With the changing seasons, cooler weather, and dramatic sunsets, the railroad really transforms into something scenic and captivating for visitors,” said Andrew Hershman, Marketing and Sales Manager for the Indiana Northeastern. “Our company has spent the last three decades reinvesting in the line and developing industry in the region, and we’re looking forward to welcoming passengers to enjoy it this fall.”
