The Nevada Northern Railway Museum purchased a vintage “doodlebug” rail car. The self-propelled rail car was built in 1930 by the J. G. Brill Company and most recently owned by the Colebrookdale Railroad in Pennsylvania.
Last year, the Nevada Northern launched a campaign to raise $403,000 before December 31, to cover the purchase price of the vehicle and the cost to move it from Pennsylvania to Nevada. The railroad said the doodlebug will be used for mid-week runs when passenger counts are low. The doodlebug will help the railroad save money on fuel and crew costs.
