LOVE COUNTY, Okla. — Five people were injured late Friday when Amtrak’s Heartland Flyer hit a truck carrying automobiles in Marietta, Okla., about 115 miles south of Oklahoma City.

According to the Love County Fire Department, the car hauler had gotten stuck on a grade crossing and was unable to get out of the way when the Amtrak train came. The lead unit derailed as a result. At least five passengers were injured when automobiles from the car carrier struck the side of the first passenger car. The lead unit was eventually uncoupled from the train and the passenger cars were taken back to Fort Worth.
