Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern will officially become “Canadian Pacific Kansas City” on April 14, the railroads announced Friday. 

April 14 was the earliest the two railroads could merge, according to the U.S. Surface Transportation Board, which approved the deal earlier this week. The decision came about a week-shy of the second anniversary of CP and KCS first announcing their plans to merge. 

The railroads also announced their new leadership teams on Friday. CP CEO Keith Creel will remain at the top of the combined company. Calgary will be the world headquarters. 

CPKC will be the first North American railroad to serve the U.S., Canada and Mexico, with a 19,200-mile system.
