BNSF Donates Property, Track to Nebraska Museum

By Railfan & Railroad Staff

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. — The Nebraska Railroad Museum has found a new home in Nebraska City thanks to a donation by BNSF Railway. Last week, the railroad museum announced that BNSF had donated 8 acres and over 2,000 feet of track to the non-profit.

The museum is looking for volunteers to help clean up and prepare the site for its equipment, which includes several passenger cars and locomotives, including a Union Pacific DD40X “Centennial.”

“The Nebraska Railroad Museum is recruiting members to join our dedicated team of volunteers in this undertaking,” the group wrote in a press release. “We are seeking (donations) so that we can continue our important mission, which is to inspire lifelong learning and dynamic educational opportunities through the preservation of railroad artifacts.”
