Canadian Shortlines Protest Shipping Delays

The Saskatchewan Shortline Railway Association has reported that the weekly grain targets for Canadian National and Canadian Pacific implemented by the federal government in early 2014 have harmed their membership. The targets have reduced the number cars distributed to short lines, causing shipping delays. This has resulted in traffic losses for the short lines and increased truck traffic, in turn causing damage to rural roads.
