Lineside Legacy by Jeffrey D. Terry

Exploring the world of preservation

Do you have a favorite preserved steam or diesel locomotive? Columnist Jeff Terry goes beyond the excursions to bring you the stories behind the photos, often showcasing railroads and projects that you won’t read about in any other publication. Lineside Legacy explores the world of railroad preservation, with in-depth looks at railroad museums, heritage railways, restorations projects, and unique equipment.

About the Author

Jeffrey D. Terry is the author of Lineside Legacy. A native of Salt Lake City, his first trip aboard a steam locomotive was at Utah’s "Heber Creeper" tourist line in 1978 – a trip that sparked a lifelong interest in railroad preservation. Jeff worked several summers as a fireman on Utah’s Heber Valley Railroad while attending college, further feeding his interest in steam and preservation. He currently resides in Minnesota, where he’s employed as a locomotive engineer for Canadian Pacific. His writings and photographs have appeared in Railfan & Railroad, Trains, Classic Trains, Railroads Illustrated, and many other publications.
