CSX names James Foote President and CEO

Following the sudden passing of Hunter Harrison due to complications from his medical condition on December 16, the CSX board of directors unanimously named James Foote as president and chief executive officer on December 22. Harrison’s death came just a day after the company had announced his leave of absence, with Foote being named acting president and CEO in his absence. Foote and Harrison were previously colleagues at Canadian National.

Jim Foote, president and chief executive officer of CSX said, “I worked alongside Hunter for over a decade and his pioneering approach to railroading unlocked significant efficiencies and value, and we remain focused on delivering on this vision for CSX, our customers and our shareholders. The execution of Precision Scheduled Railroading is well underway, with the most critical components of the implementation completed and beginning to generate measurable operating improvement.”
